Boys Cross Country Win Conference

The RCHS cross-country team has definitely been a force to be reckoned with. This last Saturday (Sep. 26) the lions had won the first EIAC championship in school history. The lady lions placed 5th in the conference as well. This marks an improvement in the XC overall season record to 58-7 and 13-0 against EIAC schools.

Sam Sterrett, one of the captains of the boys team whose birthday was also Saturday, has been extremely driven in pushing himself and the team further this year saying that, “this has been one of the most successful seasons for me as an individual and for the team as a whole. While I was training by myself over the summer during quarantine I told Coach Marlatt that I was ready to give it everything I’ve got for my senior season, and it’s paid off so far with career best times, top ten finishes, and the many first place trophies we’ve earned. We were prepared to give it our all for the conference meet and getting the win on my birthday was an amazing feeling. We knew we made history, and we plan on continuing to do so as we set our sights on qualifying as a team for the semi-state meet.”

The boys and girls look forward to a productive rest of the season as well as a successful track season in the future.
