Tips this Flu Season

Harrison Wicker, Author

The flu is hitting RCHS hard this year.  Many staff and students have had to stay home from school due to the flu.  Here are some tips to get yourself through this flu season, and not to miss school.

  • WASH your hands after using the restroom, and before eating.  There are two hand sanitizer pumps located in the cafeteria.  One right as you walk, to the right.  The other one is by the salad line.  Also, wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.
    • Wash your hands for 20 seconds.
  • Stay away from people who are sick, or have been sick.  If someone around you has been sick, stay away from them for at least 2-3 days, just to make sure that they are over it.
  • Avoid touching your face.  Germs are all over your hands.  If you touch your face, you risk the chance of getting the germs into your body.
  • If you have a fever, stay home!  No one around the school wants the flu, so stay home.
  • Clean or disinfect frequently touched surfaces. This includes:
    • Landline phones or classroom phones
    • Desks
    • Chairs
    • Doorknobs
    • Keyboards
    • Light Switches
  • All teachers have disinfectant wipes in their classrooms.

Following these simple steps will help prevent the flu.
